HOW ADVENTURE RACING WORKS

If you’re new to adventure racing, the course is only revealed the day of the race which adds to the fun and challenge. You’ll receive a course guide and two waterproof maps of the area at registration. The maps show a series of checkpoints to collect (CPs).

The course guide shows you which section to run, mountain bike or kayak. Checkpoint locations and checkpoint descriptions are on the map. Checkpoints are easy to find - they are small orange and white orienteering flags and are not hidden.

The event HQ is where you’ll register, collect your maps and race bag, bike and drop bag drop-offs for transport to the course, start and finish the event. You will be told the bike drop location in the race information kit that is released one to two days before race day.

Kayaks are included in the race entry. You can bring your own PFDs and paddle. We also have hire PFDs and paddles you can book when you enter.

On course, your team has to collect all checkpoints for each leg in the order described in the course guide and reach the finish line before the cut-off time. There will be a time penalty for being late.

The winning team is the first to cross the finish line after collecting all the checkpoints.

Adventure racing is all about getting out there and having fun! Stay tuned for upcoming training days, including navigation training for beginners!

It’s all about having fun with mates
